The Mason Gang
Brock Zeman
Before we met the Mason gang
This little town was safe and sound
They come to steal our whiskey and women
And leave our men laying on the ground
And they shot out every light
That was hanging on Old Wreck street
And I swear upon my life
I'll take them down for the devil to meet
Then one night I heard some screaming
It was coming from next door
I ran out of the house with my heart in my mouth
And in my hand my fourty-four
I was pistol-whipped and I dropped to my knee's
And they held me so I couldn't stray
They dragged out my wife and before my eyes
With her they had their way
And I wont rest easy or unlock my doors
Even in my hometown
Till every last man in the Mason gang
Is laying underground
That night I saddled up my horse
And called on every man all over this land
To meet in the center of Darby Town
For I had myself a plan
The next night when the Mason's rode to town
There was trouble hanging over their head's
Fifty men upon a rooftop opened fire
Till every last one was dead
So rest easy and unlock you doors
Good people of Darby Town
For every last man in the Mason Gang
Is laying underground
There's twenty-one crosses on the edge of town
Where the Mason gang does lay
And whenever I hear my wife crying
I ride out and spit on every grave
