On The Edge
In the Face of War
Right here, on the edge, so close without knowing
But I feel the unspoken, I embrace the unknown
The canyon is vast, full of reflections of the past
If the rags fill my eyes and blaze across the skies
I won't be scared like I've been taught
But I'll open up to things that I know not
I've built bridges to do what I can't
But I can't trust the works of my hands
I need a bit more than the ideas in my head
I need the courage to follow paths unled
With a white cane feeling forward
What is it all leading toward?
The meaning of life is a mist
It can't be clearly seen or even grasped
And if it's poured on me like water
Then may I receive with open hands
As the wind blows overhead
May it teach me all it can
Knowledge and life are about the experience
And if we speak someone is hearing us
Right here, on the edge, so close without knowing
But I feel the unspoken, I embrace the unknown
The canyon is vast, the rags will fill my eyes
Reflections of the past blaze across the skies
I don't make all the right decisions
I just try to work with what I've been given
The more I live, the less I understand
The more I control, the less I command
I'm a mystery continuing to speak
There's a reason to be silent
