Percy's Daughter

Brock Zeman
Years ago I fell in love with a girl like a gift from God
My whole world seemed different after I laid eyes upon her
Her Daddy was the richest man in town he had a gold tooth in his mouth
Not just any man could hold the hand of Percy's Daughter
And all the flowers in the land they reached up to touch her hand
The branches bent down to smell the hair fallen to her shoulders
And all the winds of the world they just swirled and they just swirled
All around the feet of Percy's daughter
She said she loved me too, but she just didn't know what to do
She could never explain things to her father
When he found out he told me: "Son, I've ways to make you fall out of love"
But even a bullet couldn't cure my heart of Percy's daughter
So I moved on outta town, I couldn't stand to see her walking round
Holding onto the arm of another
But I sent letter after letter hoping one might make it there
Into the porcelain hands of Percy's daughter
Then last night I had a dream, so vivid and real it seemed
I was standing over the dying body of her father
I reached my hand into his mouth and I ripped that gold tooth out
Had it made into a ring which I placed on the finger of Percy's daughter
