Porch Light
Brock Zeman
Sometimes the mist off the river hovers over the road
Just like a painful memory of someone who's long gone
When I get carried away in town or have trouble finding my way home
I leave the porch light on
Like a tree that comes out crooked I find it hard getting straight
Sometimes I wonder who is that stranger in my mirror looking back at me?
I keep waiting on the boy I was to come walking down the road
So I leave the porch light on
My angels can't seem to find me in all this fog and gloom
And I ain't expecting Jesus to show up anytime soon
The skies are crashing all around me and it feels like all hope is gone
But I still leave the porch light on
You know I miss you Darling, I still think about you even now
But some men were born to climb the stairs to heaven while others tunnel their way to hell
If you ever fly too close to the sun or get lost on life's storms
Then I'll leave the porch light on
