Rain On the Roof #1
Brock Zeman
The rain it just keeps falling like the tear's of a widow
Who is staring at a picture of her long lost lover
She drinks sherry in the morning and her T.V's always blaring
She says it gives her the feeling like somebody else lives there
She says the rain makes her miss her old man
And the rain says it don't give a good goddamn
And the trees are all shaking like a hobo under a train bridge
Who is shivering under a jacket he stole from a man at the mission
It had a picture in the pocket of a girl smoking a cigarette
And a busted old watch that says it's always nine o'clock
And he says the rain makes his bones creak like a rusted hinge
And the rain says it don't give a good goddamn
And the cars on the highway and whacking the rain drops with their wipers
Like a kid running through a meadow kicking the head's off all the flowers
He holds out his dirty old ball cap and watches it fill up with water
He knows that he best be getting back soon or he'll catch hell from his mother
And all the way home he cusses the rain
And the rain says it don't give a good goddamn
