South East Country

Daniel Johns
V1/ Sunshine through the trees, come ride a crystal breeze to some lost
forgotton strangers south east country in the winter, rugged craggy
ranges in the charm of the winter, in the velvet night stary calm of
the winter, fishin' the icy streams, gold mining in our dreams
chorus... these cold nights on my own, how I long to just be home, by a
roarin' fire far from a telephone, we'd rest together you and I till
the embers' dyin' glow, shrouds of snow creep in the roof and softly
say hello.
V2/The early days were long and filled with timeless song, to out
camp the blackfrost dam or blizzards on the mountain the fire flashin'
shadows of the guideposts that you're countin', you can hear the
crashin' echos of the water falls and fountains when you wake in the
mornin' light to a fairyland of white.

though now just one of my tales of the bighting chilly gales,
the granite south east country of good ol' New South Wales, your tire
chains chinkle in slush, where the summer grass is lush, and the
Southern Cross hangs high above the Snowy River's Rush... (chorus)
V3/ I'm sitting in my dingy little office in the city those stingy
rays of light still they struggle feebly down, you can hear the G.P.O.
chimes from just across this side of town and it sure is fine just like
Banjo's rhymes of trampin' round, my desk piled high with ills, to
dream of South East Country hills...(to chorus)
